Colorado Safety Policy Information

This page includes important information about Fledge’s safety policies and reporting procedures for users in Colorado, as required by Colorado’s online dating safety laws (including the Colorado Online Dating Services Safety Act, SB 24-011).

Together, these documents describe how we work to promote a safe and respectful environment on Fledge.

1. Prohibited Conduct: Sexual Violence and Safety-Related Misconduct

Engaging in sexual conduct without consent is strictly prohibited on Fledge and constitutes a serious violation of our policies. This includes, without limitation:

  • any sexual activity without clear, informed, voluntary and ongoing consent;
  • sexual activity with someone who is asleep, unconscious, too intoxicated or otherwise unable to give meaningful consent;
  • threats, coercion, intimidation or manipulation intended to obtain sexual activity;
  • any sexual contact with a person who is unable to consent due to age or other legal reasons.

Fledge also prohibits conduct that may threaten public or personal safety, including:

  • stalking, harassment or intimidation (online or offline);
  • threats of physical or sexual violence;
  • non-consensual sharing of intimate images or “revenge porn”;
  • hate-motivated or bias-motivated harassment;
  • any conduct that would reasonably make another person feel unsafe.

Users who engage in this kind of behavior may be subject to enforcement actions described in Section 3.

2. How to Report Misconduct or Safety Concerns

If you experience or witness misconduct on Fledge – including harassment, threats, sexual violence, or any conduct that makes you feel unsafe – you can report it in the following ways:

  • In-app reporting tools
  • Use the “Report” function available on user profiles and in chats to report specific messages, profiles or behavior.
  • You can also block another user to stop them from contacting you.
  • Go to the Help / Support section in the app and select a safety-related issue to submit a detailed report.
  • Email us at support@fledge.love with:
  • screenshots or message excerpts (if safe to share);
  • the username or profile details;
  • a clear description of what happened and when.

If you believe you are in immediate physical danger, you should contact 911 or your local emergency services first, before or in addition to reporting to Fledge.

3. How Fledge Responds to Reports

When we receive a report related to safety or sexual violence:

  • Review and Assessment
  • Our safety team reviews the report, relevant messages, profile information and prior reports associated with the user.
  • We may request additional information from the reporting user if needed.
  • issue warnings;
  • restrict certain features (for example, messaging or matching);
  • temporarily suspend an account while we investigate;
  • permanently ban an account from Fledge.

Where we have reason to believe an account belongs to a repeat or serious offender, we may take stronger or immediate action, including permanent removal.

  • Cooperation with Law Enforcement
  • In appropriate circumstances and as permitted by law, Fledge may cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
  • This may include preserving and sharing information relevant to alleged criminal behavior, subject to applicable privacy and legal requirements. We retain records of safety-related reports and our responses to them for the period required by Colorado law and our internal recordkeeping policies, in line with guidance issued by the Colorado Attorney General.
  • Fledge is not a law enforcement agency and cannot determine guilt or innocence.
  • Our actions are administrative and aimed at protecting the Fledge community; they do not replace reports to the police or courts.

4. Criminal Background Checks and Identity Verification

As explained in the Fledge Notice on Criminal Background Checks and Identity Verification:

  • Fledge does not conduct routine criminal background checks on all users.
  • Fledge does not conduct comprehensive identity verification checks on all users.

We may, in limited circumstances and where permitted by law:

  • use internal data and publicly available information to assess potential violations of our policies;
  • take action if we become aware that an account appears to belong to a person associated with serious offenses or safety risks;
  • cooperate with law enforcement and other authorities in investigating reported misconduct.

No online process – including photo verification, ID checks or third-party screening – can guarantee that a person is safe or has no criminal history. You remain responsible for your own safety when interacting with others on or off Fledge.

5. Your Responsibilities and Safety Resources

Colorado law expects online dating services to create, publish and enforce safety policies and to inform users about how to report misconduct and how the service will respond.

At the same time, you are the best judge of your own safety. Fledge encourages you to:

  • follow our Fledge Safety & Safe Dating Tips (online safety, meeting in person, sexual health and consent);
  • avoid sharing sensitive personal information or sending money to people you meet online;
  • arrange first meetings in public places and inform trusted contacts of your plans.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.

6. Other State-Specific Safety Notices

In addition to Colorado, some other U.S. states (including New York, New Jersey, Texas, Florida and others) have online dating safety or disclosure laws requiring information on:

  • safety policies and expectations for user conduct;
  • how to report assaults, harassment and other misconduct;
  • whether the service conducts criminal background checks.

and update our policies and procedures as needed to remain compliant.

7. Changes to This Colorado Safety Policy

We may update this Colorado Safety Policy Information from time to time, for example:

  • to reflect changes in Colorado law or related regulations;
  • to incorporate new safety tools or enforcement practices at Fledge;
  • to improve clarity about how we handle reports and protect our community.

When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice as required by law.
